Have you been to the world's largest free-flight walk-in aviary? If not, you may want to pay a visit to KL Bird Park, which was opened in 1991, and is located within the serene and scenic Kuala Lumpur Lake Gardens, and is about 10 minutes away from the Kuala Lumpur city centre in Malaysia.
What I find about the main feature that distinguishes KL Bird Park from any other bird parks is the concept of their free-flight. Why I say so? Well, upon entering the door of KL Bird Park is as if we are stepping into an enormous bird cage, where visitors will have a chance to witness at close proximity with various bird species living together as a perfectly balanced community in this semi-natural environment!
If you want to taste Malaysian cuisines, then the Hornbill Restaurant & Cafe there, which offers a wide variety of local and western cuisines, and together with their unique architecture of wooden Malay Kampung house and its subtle interior sure will give visitors that kind of perfect ambience for dining pleasure. Another thing is that the restaurant is equipped with free Wi-Fi.
What follows is a quick glance of Malaysia’s KL Bird Park:
Egg Incubation Room & Nurse
Ever want to watch how chicken eggs are artificially incubated using incubators? Not only that, if you are lucky you might have the chance to see with your very own eyes the real live hatching of adorable chicks and ducklings!
The Feathered Friends Photo Booth
Wanted to have a beautiful photo with birds? Here is the chance to be up-close-and-personal with the colourful and tame birds. Think this will definitely be a perfect souvenir for some, right? You can choose to use your own camera or their instant digital photo service.
Peacock & Hornbill Gift Shop
If you want to take home with some unique souvenirs and exclusive merchandise as a memento of an exciting adventure to be remembered, then this is the shop to visit. As far as I know, this Peacock & Hornbill Gift Shop offers a wide selection of unique souvenirs and KL Bird Park's exclusive.
World of Parrots
This mini bird aviary is specially designed to accommodate various species of parrots in their collection. What I see is that it consists of macaws, cockatoos, lodes and parakeets.
Bird Show
Also, don't miss their event highlight of the day, i.e. the KL Bird Park Bird Show happening at the semi-open air Amphitheater at 12.30pm and 3.30pm daily. I have missed it while there! The Amphitheater has a 400 seating capacity with a first-come-first-serve seating arrangement.
Hornbill Park
The magnificently landscaped Hornbill Park is home to their majestic pair of Rhinoceros Hornbill, one of the largest hornbill species in the world.
Brahminy Land
Brahminy Land exhibits Malaysia’s KL Bird Park collection of Brahminy Kites, one of the local bird of prey species in Malaysia. Watch these awesome predators in action during the Eagle Feeding at 2.30pm daily.
Bird Gallery & Education Center
This is a bird gallery and education center for visitors to learn more on the many aspects of bird life.
Flamingo Pond
This is perfect for us to catch a glimpse of their Flamingos that gracefully sun-bathing in a beautifully landscaped pond complete with a scenic man-made waterfall.
Think it is good for me to let you visit those interesting places in Malaysia’s KL Bird Park to discover further about this exciting world of feathered friends and enthralling sights by yourself.
